Parking Lot Repair.  In last Thursday’s meeting a third alternative was offered and fresh bids will be solicited in March.   At that time we will have another meeting to solicit opinions and questions from a larger contingent of parishioners to help us determine how to proceed.  If you have any questions at any time, you can direct them to Fr. Rick.

Guiding the Church: These questions will be placed in the bulletin for the last time today.  Bishop Solis is calling a Diocesan Fall General Assembly later this month to help guide and evaluate our planning process.  Most Catholics should be very interested in imagining new ways to form the next generations of disciples and servant leaders.  Again, please consider the following questions given to us by Bishop Solis.  I have left room to write some answers on this sheet.  Hand them in any time.  They are also on our website bulletin so you can copy and paste the questions and then email your answers.

  1. What do you understand by “comprehensive faith formation” in your parish(es) and mission(s)?

2. What reasons can you affirm or add that make comprehensive faith formation important in the contemporary U.S. context and particularly in the Utah context?

3. What are keys to success in establishing and maintaining comprehensive faith formation in your parish/mission setting(s)? What next step can you take? What assistance do you need from the Diocese?

Homily Reflections:

  1. “Resplendent and unfading is wisdom, and she is readily perceived by those who love her, and found by those who seek her.”  Wis. 6:12

What might be the significance of the use of feminine pronouns when referring to ‘Wisdom’ in the Sacred Scriptures?

2. “(Wisdom) makes her own rounds, seeking those worthy of her” .Wis. 6:16.

“O God, you are my God whom I seek; for you my flesh pines and my soul thirsts.” Ps. 63:2

Consider the two passages above.  If God is really seeking us and we are seeking (and pining and thirsting) for God, how is this mutual attraction and desire currently playing itself out in our lives?  How have we been found?

3. Mt. 25:1-13  When have we been least prepared to welcome Jesus or his special gift into our lives?  How did we respond to this lost opportunity?  How did the company we were keeping (wise virgins or foolish virgins) affect our preparation?
