St. Christiopher’s Parish Endowment Did you know that St. Christopher’s Parish has an endowment with the Utah Catholic Foundation?  It was started with a donation from the parish in 2020 with an initial corpus of $5000 and is intended for general parish use.  The fund has just over $6700 with interest and two additional donations. The fund is set up as ‘Permanent Restricted’ which means the corpus stays in the fund, but the earnings are available to the parish as needed.  If you would like to make a donation to our endowment for the long-term care of St. Christophers, please contact Fr. Rick for further details.

Bring Me Thy Pamphlet!  Don’t forget the Speaker’s Corner where you can present your favorite religious message. Rather than merely lay your favorite pamphlet, magazine, bookmark or poster on one of the flat surfaces in the church, you could personalize the message in the handout and share it with the community at a prescheduled forum after Mass on Sundays. Garry’s recent presentation on his pilgrimage to Portugal was well received, inspiring and a good model of witnessing and sharing the faith journey.  This is a great way to practice.  See Fr. Rick for more details.

Pilgrimage Passports Available in our Gift Shop.  Record your special memories and blessings from the different churches you visit on your travels.  You can also obtain our St. Christopher’s stamp and seal to record your visit.  They are available at a discounted rate while supply lasts.

Thank you so much to all who attended the wonderful 25th Anniversary party yesterday.  Special thanks to Jim and Mary Beth for their organizational leadership and all who helped with the labor and mechanics of putting together such a fine event.  This little community has been a wonderful addition to my life and ministry in Utah.  A nice mix of parishioners and townsies.

Homily Reflection Questions:

  1. Ps. 104:30  Lord, send out your Spirit, and renew the face of the earth.  What signs do you currently see that the Spirit is renewing the face of the earth?  How is the Spirit renewing your life, especially since Lent and Easter season?
  • Rom. 8:15  For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear.  From what bad habit or sin have you been noticeably liberated since Lent and during Easter Season?  From what type of slavery do you continue to suffer and struggle?
  • According to St. Paul’s Letter to the Romans, what is the criteria for being a co-heir with Christ to the Kingdom of God?
  • Jn. 20:21 “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”  What does THAT mean?  How does that command work out in our everyday life?  Is it really peaceful to go out into the world and do what Jesus did?  What is the nature of the peace that Jesus promises us?
  • Name the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.  Name the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
  • Jn. 16:13 “But when (the Advocate) comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth.”    Jn. 16:15 “Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that (the Advocate) will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”

—-Pope Leo the XIV has added his deep concern to the concerns of many others about the disruptive capacity of Artificial Intelligence in our society.  This of course follows ongoing concerns about the phenomena of ‘virtual reality’ and many other human-made distortions of reality.

How can we integrate the real Spirit of Truth into our lives to rise above the virtual and artificial distortions that pervade our culture?

“Prayer, good reading, the frequentation of the sacraments, with the proper dispositions, and particularly the flight of idleness – these are, believe me, the means of sanctifying yourself.”        St. Paul of the Cross
