St. Christopher Endowment:  Did you know that St. Christopher’s Parish has an endowment with the Utah Catholic Foundation?  It was started with a donation from the parish in 2020 with an initial corpus of $5000 and is intended for general parish use.  The fund has now over $60,000 with interest and additional donations as of 7-30-26. The fund is set up as ‘Permanent Restricted’ which means the corpus stays in the fund, but the earnings are available to the parish annually as needed.  If you would like to make a donation to our endowment for the long-term care of St. Christopher’s, please contact Fr. Rick for further details.

Reporting Abuse:  If you observe or have reason to believe that a child, young person or vulnerable adult has been subjected to abuse by a priest, deacon, employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, you must report the alleged abuse to local law enforcement and state agencies, and you must notify the Diocesan Office of Safe Environment at safeenv@dioslc.org or call 801-328-8641, x344.       https://www.dioslc.org/safe-environment

Prayer for Immigrants from US Council of Catholic Bishops website

Good Lord and Heavenly Father,

You love each one of your children regardless of the lands they come from.

We thank you for helping us to recognize each other as members of the same human family and as your beloved people.

We thank you because you enlighten us, encourage us, and feed us with your Word.

We pray for those that suffer due to hunger, injustice, climate change, and poverty—so that together we may find solutions to change their lives.

We pray for our countries, so that we may find viable paths for international collaboration and authentic human development.

We pray for our Church, so that we may learn to be all brothers and sisters. Thus, we ask for a humble heart that is willing to welcome, protect, promote, and integrate those who knock at our doors.

We pray this in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, who is present in our brothers and sisters, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

Homily Reflection Questions

1  Ez. 18:25  “Thus says the LORD: ‘You say, “The LORD’s way is not fair!’”  When in your life have you adamantly declared, ‘The LORD’s way is not fair!’?  Really?  You NEVER thought that?

2  Ps. 25:8-9  ‘Good and upright is the LORD; thus he shows sinners the way.  He guides the humble to justice, and teaches the humble his way.’  When has your sinfulness finally brought you to a level of humility that you were then, finally, able to follow the way of the Lord?  Really?  That NEVER happened to you?

3  In the second reading today from Paul’s Letter to the Philippians (2:5) he tells us, “Have in you the same attitude that is also in Christ Jesus.’  If we took this advice seriously, who would guide us in such an endeavor and who would hold us accountable?

4  If you were told to ‘go into the vineyard and work’ (Mt. 21:28), what type of work would you be doing?  How would you know that you were doing the type of work that the landlord (the LORD) really asked of you?  What type of work would you absolutely NOT do?
