Consecration of the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. On June 11, 2026, as part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Parishes around the country are encouraged to join the bishops in celebrating the consecration of our nation to the Sacred Heart.  Our local consecration will happen at Mass on Thursday, June 11 at a 9:00 AM Mass.  (It will replace the regular 8:00 AM). Please come and invite a friend.

Noven to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for the USA from June 3 to 11.  Pray individually or invite a friend to lunch and a rosary.  Reflections and format for the novena can be found on the Bishops’ website:

The Search continues.  This 7-part video and discussion series from the Augustine Institute (formed.org) is a great intro to the Catholic faith. It starts with many of the real questions most people ask as they move through the different stages of life and gives us the next steps to Catholic teaching.  As we anticipate receiving more new members into our parish, everyone is encouraged to participate.  This series continues with Session #4 and is held on Thursdays from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

St. Christopher Endowment:  Did you know that St. Christopher’s Parish has an endowment with the Utah Catholic Foundation?  It was started with a donation from the parish in 2020 with an initial corpus of $5000 and is intended for general parish use.  The fund has now over $35,000 with interest and additional donations as of 5-30-26. The fund is set up as ‘Permanent Restricted’ which means the corpus stays in the fund, but the earnings are available to the parish annually as needed.  If you would like to make a donation to our endowment for the long-term care of St. Christopher’s, please contact Fr. Rick for further details.

Reporting Abuse: If you observe or have reason to believe that a child, young person or vulnerable adult has been subjected to abuse by a priest, deacon, employee or volunteer of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, you must report the alleged abuse to local law enforcement and state agencies, and you must notify the Diocesan Office of Safe Environment at safeenv@dioslc.org or call 801-328-8641, x344.       https://www.dioslc.org/safe-environment

Homily Reflection Questions:

—–  1    Today’s first reading conveniently skipped over verse seven from chapter 34 of Exodus.  Ex. 34:6-7  “So the LORD passed before him and proclaimed: The LORD, the LORD, a God gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in love and fidelity,* continuing his love for a thousand generations, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion, and sin; yet not declaring the guilty guiltless, but bringing punishment for their parents’ wickedness on children and children’s children to the third and fourth generation!.  As we near the 250th  Anniversary of our country’s independence we consider our many blessings, failings and future prospects.  What blessings should we expect for the next, say, four generations and what punishments might the parents’ wickedness have brought on the next four generations of our children?

—-  2  Read all of Chapter 34 of Exodus.  What lessons were learned and ignored by Americans over the last 250 years?  The last 100 years?  The last 50 years?  This is complex.  Take your time and consider it together with some friends during your novenas.

— 3  Jn 3:17  “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him
.”  What is the strongest evidence for the saving power of Jeus in our individual lives?  In our Church?  In our nation?
