Peter’s Pence Collect This Week
Catholics who contribute to the Peter’s Pence Collection: (1) To support the Holy Father’s mission, which extends throughout the entire world, from the proclamation of the Gospel to the promotion of integral human development, education, peace, and brotherhood among peoples; (2) To support the numerous charitable works in aid of people and families in difficulty, populations afflicted by natural disasters and wars, or who are in need of humanitarian assistance or support for development.”
Entertaining Angels at the Social Hour. We never know which holy messengers may be visiting the parish and offering us the opportunity to recognize them (Heb. 18:3). We could still use a couple more teams to help host our Sunday post-Mass social hour. It’s easy and VERY FUN. See the sign-up list in the gathering space for more details
St. Christiopher’s Parish Endowment Did you know that St. Christopher’s Parish has an endowment with the Utah Catholic Foundation? It was started with a donation from the parish in 2020 with an initial corpus of $5000 and is intended for general parish use. The fund has just over $6700 with interest and two additional donations. The fund is set up as ‘Permanent Restricted’ which means the corpus stays in the fund, but the earnings are available to the parish as needed. If you would like to make a donation to our endowment for the long-term care of St. Christophers, please contact Fr. Rick for further details.
Women of the Church: What Every Catholic Should Know, by Bronwen McShea. https://ignatius.com/women-of-the-church-wcwckp/ Click on this link and scroll down to video products for an interview with the author. If you are interested in a group book discussion, leave your name on the sign-up list in the gathering space. (one click away on our website) Grandmothers could imagine themselves gently educating their granddaughters about the critical roll women have played in the Church over the centuries and how that impact influenced the shape of Western Civilization and world history. Curious grandchildren might be edified to know that women’s influence has been about much more than ‘reproductive rights’ and ‘doing anything that men can do.”

Homily Reflection Questions:
1 Ps.34:5 “I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.” Describe a situation when the Lord delivered you from all your fears. Did He solve your problem? Did He help you look at it in a different way? How was your fear affecting your life and for how long?
2 Mt. 16:13 Jesus said to His disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” When was the first time you explained the person of Jesus to someone else? When did you first doubt that Jesus was God? What led you to that conclusion? How did you regain your faith? Was the situation related to your answer in Question #1 above?
3 Mt 16:19. “Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” What does it mean to bind and loose? Who has that authority now, 2000 years later? How do you learn what is bound and loosed as life becomes more complicated? Do you and your spouse believe in the same authority on earth? If not, how do you reconcile the differences?
4 Jesus promises that “gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.” Mt. 16:18. What are the most positive and hopeful signs in the Church today that reassures us that the netherworld is NOT prevailing? How do you explain this to people who might think that the Catholic Church has no authority to teach in the name of God? Which teachings do people tend to think are most in error?
5 Do your grandchildren know who Sts Peter and Paul are? Who taught them about these great saints? Why would this matter or not? What are your grandchildren’s Confirmation names?
