Yea Landon and Mar!! Congratulations Landon and Mar Smothers.  Landon is now in FULL COMMUNION with the Catholic Church and the Happy Couple now has their marriage Sacramentally blessed in the Church.  What a great day for the whole parish!  Thank you to all who attended and assisted with the festivities.

The Funeral Mass for James Wentz will be celebrated at St. Christopher’s at 12 noon on July 1st.

Jubilee Pilgrimage at St. Christopher’s this Wednesday, June 18th. A Pilgrimage marking the 25th Jubilee Year has been organized in the SW Deanery and the pilgrims are coming to St. Christopher’s Parish on Wednesday around 10:30 AM.  We will have an hour of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, possibly Morning Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours and then some light snacks to send the pilgrims on their way refreshed and happy.  Everyone is encouraged to come.

Entertaining Angels at the Social HourWe never know which holy messengers may be visiting the parish and offering us the opportunity to recognize them (Heb. 18:3).   We could still use a couple more teams to help host our Sunday post-Mass social hour.  It’s easy and VERY FUN.  See the sign-up list in the gathering space for more details

St. Christiopher’s Parish Endowment Did you know that St. Christopher’s Parish has an endowment with the Utah Catholic Foundation?  It was started with a donation from the parish in 2020 with an initial corpus of $5000 and is intended for general parish use.  The fund has just over $6700 with interest and two additional donations. The fund is set up as ‘Permanent Restricted’ which means the corpus stays in the fund, but the earnings are available to the parish as needed.  If you would like to make a donation to our endowment for the long-term care of St. Christophers, please contact Fr. Rick for further details.

Bring Me Thy Pamphlet!  Don’t forget the Speaker’s Corner where you can present your favorite religious message. Rather than merely lay your favorite pamphlet, magazine, bookmark or poster on one of the flat surfaces in the church, you could personalize the message in the handout and share it with the community at a prescheduled forum after Mass on Sundays. Garry’s recent presentation on his pilgrimage to Portugal was well received, inspiring and a good model of witnessing and sharing the faith journey.  This is a great way to practice.  See Fr. Rick for more details.

Homily Reflection Questions

  1. Rom. 5:3-5 “…We even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope, and hope does not disappoint…”  When have you boasted (or at least honored) hard times because they strengthened your resolve or confidence to accomplish something difficult?  To what extent did you openly attribute your new-found hope to your faith in Jesus Christ?
  • Jn. 16:12-13 “I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.  But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth.”  Think of a situation in your life where the teachings of the Catholic Church just didn’t make much or any sense to you.  What kept you learning until you came to a belief or a higher comfort level?  Describe the process you followed.
  • How does today’s reading from Proverbs (8:22-31) relate to the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity?
  •  Jn. 16:15  “Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.”  This promise from Jesus to the disciples is in turn passed along to the whole Church.  What type of community meeting or forum could you imagine that would actually discuss the implications of this promise? How has the promise come to fruition in the past 2000 year?  What areas in our Church and world are still needing “everything the Father has”?
