Fr. Rick’s Pastoral Messages – July 15, 2021

Did you know

The DDD funds the Office of Safe Environment which requires safe environment training through online educational programs, presentations, and resource materials for church and school personnel?  The training helps to make and maintain a safe environment for children and vulnerable adults throughout our Diocese.  PLEASE MAKE YOUR CONTRIBUTION TODAY AND HELP SUPPORT THE CHURCH’S LOCAL AND GLOBAL MISSION.  THANK YOU!

Preparing for Sunday Mass:  Please consider reading the Sunday Scripture readings a day or two before coming to Mass.  If you have a study bible try to read all the footnotes that describe a little more about the reading.  This will improve your experience at Mass immeasurably and maybe even help you understand the homily better.  AND, please note that the Sunday homily is usually posted on the parish website by the end of the weekend or at least by Monday… if one were tempted to review it.  AND, maybe even discuss it with a friend.

Praying to the Same God? Our God is a Trinitarian God and we are called to participate in the indwelling love of this Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  As such, Catholics are called together into this state of Trinitarian love where we see each other and experience each other as God does.  This is the key to real Communion and our time spent in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament should help us realize this great mystery for which our souls so deeply long.  Please join us on Thursdays from 4:00 – 5:00 PM for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament ending with benediction.  This form of group silent prayer is a very powerful statement of our faith in a God who is calling us together as one.   Again, if we give God the time to more deeply penetrate our souls, we will eventually learn how to see each ‘with the eyes of our hearts’ despite what our brains and wills might be saying to us.

Community Volunteers:  We have received information from Jerica at the Senior Center here in Kanab that they are needing some part time volunteers to assist them on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at the Care and Share especially from 8am-11am … or other times.  Please feel free to contact her at jbauer@kane.utah.gov.  She would be most happy to hear from you.
