Pastoral Messages from Fr. Rick – July 23, 2021

Medicare.gov says:  Get your COVID-19 vaccineGetting the COVID-19 vaccine is more important than ever. The Delta variant, a new variant of the virus now in the U.S., is more easily spread and can cause severe disease.  If you are fully vaccinated, that’s great. The COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective against this variant. But if you are unvaccinated, you are at risk.

The more a virus spreads, the more it mutates, and the more variants can emerge. Help stop the spread of Delta and other COVID-19 variants by getting vaccinated as soon as you can.  Reminder: Medicare covers the COVID-19 vaccine, so there is no cost to you. How to find a COVID-19 vaccine near you:   Search http://www.vaccines.gov  Text your ZIP code to 438829   Call 1-800-232-0233 Sincerely, The Medicare Team           PLEASE PASS THE WORD TO YOUR UNVACCINATED FRIENDS

World Day for Grandparents“Grandparents are the ring linking generations, to transmit to young people the experience of life and faith.”  Pope Francis (2021)In January 2021, after praying the Angelus, Pope Francis declared the fourth Sunday in July as World Day for Grandparents. The date has been chosen to be near the liturgical memorial (July 26) of Saints Anne and Joachim, grandparents of Jesus. Since the date of the memorial falls within the week devoted to raising awareness of Natural Family Planning and Church teaching which support its use in marriage due to the anniversary of Humanae vitae (July 25), it is appropriate to acknowledge the vital role that grandparents play in the lives of their grandchildren. For more information about World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, please visit the Vatican website.  ALSO CHECK OUT:  https://www.usccb.org/topics/natural-family-planning
