Pastoral Messages from Fr. Rick – April 8, 2021

WELCOME FR. DAVE !!  Our pastor and dean is the celebrant this weekend as I attend to some personal business.

Resurrection Stories:  During the Octave of Easter Mass readings we have heard many of the familiar stories of how the Disciples recognized the Resurrected Lord…eventually.  During this week especially, reflect on your own encounters with Christ and be prepared to share your personal witness with those who are still ‘downcast’ and ‘unbelieving’.

Man and Father Conference – April 23-25   Check it out and pass it on.  https://go.virtualcatholicconference.com/manandfather

TRULY Pro-Life          Consider linking into this Theology of the Body weekend conference/webinar to see how a dynamic Catholic Church is reaching out to our wounded culture and world.  This easily accessible format is a great way to familiarize ourselves with some of the tools and weapons that the next few generations of Catholics will need to continue the job of building the Kingdom of God and Teaching the Nations.  Did I mention that it is FREE?  April 30 to May 2.       https://www.tobvirtualconference.com/

EVEN MORE PRO-LIFE     Check out the Catholic Climate Covenant’s website to see how you can participate in preserving the planet your grandchildren will inherit and how our faith speaks to the many environmental issues.     https://catholicclimatecovenant.org/   This week there is also a special webinar featuring the sentiments of Native Americans in the area of the environment; listed on same webpage.

All Parishioners:    More information on the annual spring cleanup.  Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 17th, at 10:00 a.m.  We’ll work until we get tired.  Jobs include painting handrails, painting exterior wood, cleaning gutter and around AC units, pruning a couple trees, cleaning window wells and the detached garage, etc.  The full list of jobs is posted on the chalkboard in Social Hall.  There will be another list in Gathering Hall this Saturday.  Bring work clothes, hat, gloves and mask, in case you are working in a group.  For more info, contact Mike Bzdewka, MaryBeth Pashia or Noel Poe.

THE HEALING CHARISM – This is a free weekly reflection delivered to your inbox to uplift the soul and calm the mind from St. Luke Institute’s president, Rev. David Songy, O.F.M.Cap., S.T.D., Psy.D.  sli.org/signup

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT Please join us for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament each Thursday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:00.  This will be a time of silent prayer which ends with benediction.  Yet another genuinely PRO-LIFE activity.

Stations of the Cross Booklets:  If you still have one, please return in to the church and leave it on the back table.  Thank you.
